While the Pemberton Centre may be the most suitable meeting venue in the Rushden area, it is perhaps not particularly well-sited insofar as public transport is concerned.
The nearest bus stop is actually on Irchester Road, roughly opposite Knuston Drive, and is 1/3 of a mile (about 600 yards) from the Centre. The map below shows the suggested pedestrian route from the bus stop to the Centre.
The Stagecoach route 49 serves this bus stop: the service runs from Kettering via Burton Latimer, Finedon, Irthlingborough, Higham Ferrers and Rushden to Waitrose in Rushden. It is an hourly service, and the bus most likely to be of interest for anyone attending the U3A monthly meeting is scheduled to run as follows:
|13:00||Higham Ferrers, Green Dragon|
|13:09||Rushden, Rectory Road|
|13:16||Rushden, Irchester Road|
The previous stop on the 49 bus route is on Wellingborough Road, shortly after Purvis Road. The walk from here to the Pemberton Centre is, however, slightly longer (about 800 yards).
